The project
Orchard Field is Stonewood Homes' flagship sustainable development and one of the largest schemes in our portfolio. 88 homes, each with up to 12 solar panels seamlessly embedded into slate-tiled roofs, 45cm insulated walls, triple glazing, airtight construction, and whole-house mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. This is not a development that simply ticks the compliance box. It is built around a genuine commitment to how homes should perform.
What we delivered
In-roof solar PV across all 88 plots, integrated flush with the slate tile line so that the panels become part of the roof rather than sitting above it. At this scale, the logistics of sequencing installation across a live construction site while maintaining programme is a significant coordination challenge. Our team worked to Stonewood's build sequence, plot by plot, ensuring solar was never a bottleneck on handovers.
Why it worked
Orchard Field is the third Stonewood Homes development we have delivered. That relationship exists because we treat every scheme as a design problem, not just an installation job. When a developer builds homes that are designed to perform for 50 years, the solar system has to be specified and installed to the same standard. We take that responsibility seriously.
